NAUGHTY ANGEL RAPTURES "LUST" C32 (AOW 381)

An intense and masterful collaborative HNW project between Dosis Letalis and Naughty, with each project bringing in their stylistic trademarks to create something both beautiful and caustic.  The two 15 minute pieces here are a perfect marriage of Naughty's dense and bass-heavy hypno-walls and Dosis Letalis's electric, crackling, violently-distorted approach; together the two achieve an intense symbiosis resulting in two severe and engulfing walls.  I don't know that I can sum it up any better than Nemanja and Charlotte themselves:

"Naughty Angel Raptures is passionate HNW for lovers."

Released on pink-tinted cassettes in a limited edition of 20 hand-numbered copies.  $8 ppd. in the United States, $24 rest of world.

MISERY RITUAL/NAUGHTY "SPLIT" CDR (AOW 393)

Excellent split between California's Misery Ritual and France's Naughty, with each project turning in a 20 minute track.  Misery Ritual's piece is a storm of crackle and detritus, displaced thundering rumbles and crumbling distortion sculpted into an anxious and jittery wall; it's a distinct and interesting sound a bit removed from the bleak and unsettling ANW-style constructions the project has previously released, but no less intense or frightening.
Naughty's piece is a beautifully deep and dense rumbling wall, pure in its hypnotic and entrancing void power, and keeping in line with the masterful constructions she's released previously.  It will pull you completely under and nullify you with its thick and enveloping tones.
Together the two pieces form an entrancing, sometimes violent, sometimes mesmerizing descent into the void of the wall.
Packaged in a DVD case, with a small insert, in a limited edition of 20 hand-numbered copies.  $10 ppd. in the United States, $26 rest of world.

THE EBONY TOWER AND BIG HOLE "AUM SHINRIKYO" 2CDR (AOW 331)

Massive collaborative effort between longtime AOW allies Big Hole and The Ebony Tower, here turning in an exhaustive double CD of violent HNW based on the first academic discourse on the Aum Shinrikyo cult of Japan, delivered by Ian Reader.  Aum Shinrikyo were responsible for a number of sarin gas bombings in Japan and are one of the more mysterious and terrifying cult entities currently in operation; this release delves into that dark mystique with some severe and assaulting HNW monoliths, two 75 minute pieces that showcase the approach of both projects but blend them into something wholly and more tremendously caustic.  If you're a fan of either project (and i know you are) then you absolutely need this record.
Packaged in a DVD case and released in a limited edition of 15 hand-numbered copies.  $12 ppd. in the United States, $28 rest of world.

SHURAYUKI-HIME "SHO GA NAI" C20 (AOW 375)

New work of extreme minimal electronics from Liam McGeorge's Shurayuki-hime project, here building off the sounds of his previous AOW release, "Yukibango," but pushing them even further into the realm of near-nonexistence, resulting in an extremely challenging cassette that asks you to consider the somewhat arbitrary demarcations between "noise" and "ambience."  The two tracks here crackle and sputter and settle into moments of almost pure silence; it's total pedal mastery, an exploration of the arid desert spaces existing at the crumbling edges of the HNW cosmos.  Very pleased to offer this work through AOW.
Released on white cassettes in a limited edition of 20 hand-numbered copies.  $8 ppd. in the United States, $24 rest of world.

ROPES "THE PUNISHMENT OF THE SACK" C36 (AOW 371)

Murky, thick, and transfixingly eerie work from Ropes that incorporates dense wall textures alongside unsettling deep sea sounds, creating an atmosphere of darkness and pressure that threatens to overwhelm at almost every point.  There's a beautiful sense of drone to this cassette but also a persistent harshness; the two tracks here are both serenely calm and devastatingly crushing at once, provoking a certain discord that only adds to the aura of tension Ropes summons up.  Like drowning.
Released on murky translucent green cassettes, in an edition of 10 hand-numbered copies.  $8 ppd. in the United States, $24 rest of world.

CORY STRAND "MEMENTO: TOTALITY" DVD-R (AOW 390)

An addendum to my "Memento: A Reinterpretation" set from a couple months ago.  This is a noised-out "Totality" rework of Memento's entire audio track, here transformed into some thick, bassy sludge-textures that remind me of distorted guitar vomit in some places and crumbling deep HNW in others.  I've left a lot of the original ambient elements in place on this one as well, so there's an underlying eeriness to everything that occasionally permeates through the noise.  I've spent a lot of time with Memento these last few months (one of my final papers this semester was on the film), and i've come to see just how incredibly emotionally violent it is...i hope i've captured some of that severity with this rework.
Packaged in a DVD case and released in a limited edition of 5 hand-numbered copies.  $12 ppd. in the United States, $28 rest of world.
